St. Louis Children’s Hospital pediatricians work with a child’s primary pediatrician to ensure the best care possible for general medical and surgical needs. Dedicated, trained pediatric nurses work with the pediatricians to assess and monitor the child’s care.
With private pediatric rooms and inpatient beds, a child can be admitted for a single night stay or longer if his or her condition warrants extended treatment (ie, multi-day IV antibiotics).
The pediatricians at Progress West Hospital are capable of treating major pediatric cases or transferring a child to St. Louis Children’s Hospital for a higher level of specialized care (ie, cancer care or blood diseases), if needed.
